Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that a school district may offer its students a course on hunting safety as part of its curriculum during the school day or as part of an after-school program. Provides that the State Board of Education may prepare and make available to school boards resources on hunting safety that may be used as guidelines for the development of the course. Effective July 1, 2019.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
105 ILCS 5/27-23.13 new

Amends the School Code. Provides that a school district may include in its curriculum a unit of instruction on hunting education that includes instruction on hunting safety. Requires the State Board of Education to prepare and make available to school boards instructional materials that may be used as guidelines for development of a unit of instruction on hunting education. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
527-23.13 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/27-23.13 new)
7 Sec. 27-23.13. Hunting education. A school district may
8include in its curriculum a unit of instruction on hunting
9education that includes instruction on hunting safety. The
10State Board of Education must prepare and make available to
11school boards instructional materials that may be used as
12guidelines for development of a unit of instruction under this
13Section.
14 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15becoming law.
