| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Jashira Bolden of | ||||||
| 4 | Belleville for being named one of the top two youth volunteers | ||||||
| 5 | in Illinois for 2013 in the Prudential Spirit of Community | ||||||
| 6 | Award program; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Award, | ||||||
| 8 | presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the | ||||||
| 9 | National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors | ||||||
| 10 | young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an | ||||||
| 11 | extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; the | ||||||
| 12 | award is designed to emphasize the importance our nation places | ||||||
| 13 | on service to others and to encourage all young Americans to | ||||||
| 14 | contribute to their communities; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, As a State Honoree, Jashira Bolden received a | ||||||
| 16 | $1,000 award, an engraved silver medallion, and a trip to | ||||||
| 17 | Washington, D.C. on May 4-7, 2013 during a series of national | ||||||
| 18 | recognition events; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength | ||||||
| 20 | of our communities, and the overall vitality of American | ||||||
| 21 | society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young | ||||||
| 22 | people like Jashira Bolden, who use their considerable talents | ||||||

| 1 | and resources to serve others; therefore, be it

| 2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 3 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 4 | we congratulate and honor Jashira Bolden for being named one of | ||||||
| 5 | the top two youth volunteers in Illinois for 2013 in the | ||||||
| 6 | Prudential Spirit of Community Award program, recognize her | ||||||
| 7 | outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and | ||||||
| 8 | community spirit, and extend our best wishes for her continued | ||||||
| 9 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to Jashira Bolden as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 12 | esteem.
