Bill Title: Amends the Chicago Firefighter Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Specifies that the age stated in a fireman's application for appointment as a member shall be conclusive evidence of his or her age for the purposes of providing all benefits under the Article (rather than for the purposes of the Article). Provides that for any fireman entering service with the City of Chicago Fire Department after January 1, 2020, the actual birthdate as provided in the fireman's birth certificate shall be conclusive evidence of the fireman's age for the purposes of the Article. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by changing
5Section 6-217 as follows:
6 (40 ILCS 5/6-217) (from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 6-217)
7 Sec. 6-217. Age stated in employment application to be
8conclusive.
9 For any fireman, as defined in this Article, who has filed
10an application for appointment as a member of the fire
11department of the city, the age therein stated shall be
12conclusive evidence of his age for the purposes of providing
13all benefits under this Article. However, for any fireman, as
14defined in this Article, entering service with the City of
15Chicago Fire Department after January 1, 2020, the actual
16birthdate as provided in the fireman's birth certificate shall
17be conclusive evidence of the fireman's age for the purposes of
18this Article.

20 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
