2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to mourn | ||||||
3 | the death of Pvt. Fay Gene Teter of Rock Island, who was killed | ||||||
4 | in action at Betio, Tarawa Atoll, Gilbert Islands on November | ||||||
5 | 22, 1943; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Pvt. Teter was born in Ardmore, Missouri to Fay | ||||||
7 | and Bertha L. (Boyd) Teter on December 11, 1925; he attended | ||||||
8 | Rock Island High School and was employed at the former Bridge | ||||||
9 | and Iron Works in Rock Island before serving in the U.S. Marine | ||||||
10 | Corps; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Pvt. Teter's surviving family members include his | ||||||
12 | brother, Norman (Shirley) Teter and his sister, Judy Jo | ||||||
13 | Hartman, as his parents, Bertha and Fay Teter and his sister, | ||||||
14 | Bonnie Bopes, have passed away in the years following his | ||||||
15 | death; and

16 | WHEREAS, Pvt. Teter was accounted for in August of 2022 | ||||||
17 | and has been brought home; therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of | ||||||
20 | Pvt. Fay Gene Teter and recognize the ultimate sacrifice he | ||||||
21 | made for his country; and be it further
