| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of David W. "Dave" Collins of East Moline, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on August 19, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dave Collins was born in Chicago to David L. and | ||||||
6 | Virginia (Bausher) Collins on September 4, 1938; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Lake View High School in Chicago in 1957; he attended | ||||||
8 | Shimer College in Mount Carroll; he served in the U.S. Navy | ||||||
9 | aboard the U.S.S. Essex from 1962 to 1964; he married Leona | ||||||
10 | (Bender) Dudzik in 1971; he later married Sheri (Christie) | ||||||
11 | White on November 9, 1996; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dave Collins moved to the Quad City area for an | ||||||
13 | administrative position with local McDonald's restaurants in | ||||||
14 | the early 1970s; he worked as a co-owner and an administrator | ||||||
15 | of several Maid-Rites franchises in the Quad City and | ||||||
16 | surrounding area for over 20 years before retiring in 2007; and

17 | WHEREAS, Dave Collins was deeply committed to his faith and | ||||||
18 | was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in East | ||||||
19 | Moline for nearly 40 years; he was a loyal fan of the Chicago | ||||||
20 | Cubs and the Chicago Bears; he enjoyed entertaining his | ||||||
21 | grandchildren, reading, and watching and playing golf; he was | ||||||
22 | proud of making a hole-in-one at the Indian Bluff Golf Course |

1 | on October 4, 2013; he was involved with the Playcrafters Barn | ||||||
2 | Theater, both on and off stage, in the early 1980s; he was | ||||||
3 | passionate about literature and history; he was a firm believer | ||||||
4 | in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the | ||||||
5 | founding principles of the U.S.; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Dave Collins was known as "Butch"; he was | ||||||
7 | affectionately known as "Papa" and "Grandpa Dave" to his | ||||||
8 | grandchildren; he will be remembered for being kind, selfless, | ||||||
9 | and generous; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Dave Collins was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
11 | and his father-in-law, James Christie; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dave Collins is survived by his wife of 23 years, | ||||||
13 | Sheri; his children, Mike (Loretta) Dudzik, Mark Collins, and | ||||||
14 | Lauren White; his grandchildren, Michael, Derrick, Autumn, | ||||||
15 | Graham, and Henry; his brother, Larry (Terrie); and his many | ||||||
16 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | David W. "Dave" Collins and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
20 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
21 | further
