A bill to amend 1979 PA 94, entitled
"The state school aid act of 1979,"
(MCL 388.1601 to 388.1896) by adding section 61d.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 61d. (1) From the appropriation in section 11, there is
allocated an amount not to exceed $13,700,000.00 for 2017-2018 to
districts and intermediate districts that operate an eligible
career and technical education program to provide driver education
and training.
(2) To be eligible for funding under this section, a career
and technical education program shall offer a program of
instruction in driver education and training developed or adopted
by the department under this section.
(3) Not later than 180 days after the effective date of the
amendatory act that added this section, the department shall
develop or adopt, and make available to career and technical
education programs, a program of instruction in driver education
and training.
(4) Funding to eligible districts and intermediate districts
under this section shall be paid in an amount equal to the number
of full-time equivalent pupils enrolled in the district or
intermediate district who meet the income eligibility criteria for
free breakfast, lunch, or milk, as determined under the Richard B.
Russell national school lunch act, 42 USC 1751 to 1769j, multiplied
by $300.00.
