A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled

"The social welfare act,"

by amending section 111l (MCL 400.111l), as added by 2006 PA 286.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 111l. (1) Beginning October 1, 2006, the The department and the department of community health shall require that all children participants in the special supplemental food program for women, infants, and children (WIC program) receive lead testing. Federal funds provided for administration of the special supplemental food program for women, infants, and children (WIC program) shall not be used to implement or administer the provisions of this section.

(2) Beginning on the effective date of the amendatory act that added this subsection, the department shall require that all medical assistance recipients under 6 years of age and all MIChild enrollees under 6 years of age receive an annual lead screening test.

(3) As used in this section:

(a) "Medicaid" means the program of medical assistance administered by the state under section 105.

(b) "MIChild" means the federal state children's health insurance program (SCHIP) administered by the department under title XXI of the social security act, 42 USC 1397aa to 1397mm.
