1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to transportation; requiring fare increases for Metro Transit service;
1.3amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 473.408, by adding a subdivision.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 473.408, is amended by adding a
1.6subdivision to read:
1.7    Subd. 5a. Farebox recovery adjustment. (a) The council shall amend its fare
1.8policies under this section, to increase the fare beginning July 1, 2012, by:
1.9(1) 25 cents for Metro Transit regular route bus and light rail transit service imposed
1.10during nonpeak hours for passengers who are not provided a discounted fare; and
1.11(2) amounts proportional to the increase under clause (1), rounded to the nearest
1.12increment of 25 cents, for all other Metro Transit service, including but not limited to each
1.13type of discounted fare service, regular route bus and light rail transit service during
1.14peak hours, express bus service, commuter rail service during weekdays and weekends,
1.15and downtown zone circulation service.
1.16(b) This subdivision does not apply to Metro Mobility paratransit service or Transit
1.17Link shared-ride service.
1.18EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
