Summary

An Act To Reenact Section 41-59-3, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Provides Definitions For The Emergency Medical Services Act; To Reenact Section 41-59-5, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Directs The State Board Of Health To Establish And Maintain An Emergency Medical Services Program And A Uniform Statewide Trauma Care System And Assess Fees For Hospitals That Choose Not To Participate In The Trauma Care System; To Amend Reenacted Section 41-59-5, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide For Reimbursement To Certain Burn Care Centers; To Reenact Section 41-59-7, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Creates An Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council; To Reenact Section 41-59-75, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Establishes The Mississippi Trauma Care Systems Fund And The Mississippi Trauma Care Escrow Fund; To Reenact Section 27-19-43, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Provides For The Issuance Of License Tags And Decals For Motor Vehicles And Imposes A Registration Fee For The Issuance Of Those Tags And Decals; To Reenact Section 41-9-51, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Authorizes Hospitals To Charge The Patient For The Reasonable Cost Of Activating Trauma Care Services Under Certain Circumstances; To Reenact And Amend Section 63-17-171, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Levies A Point-of-sale Fee On Retail Sales Of All-terrain Vehicles And Motorcycles For Deposit Into The Mississippi Trauma Care Systems Fund; To Levy A Fee On Any Resident Of This State Who Purchases A New And Not Previously Registered Motorcycle In Another State And Brings The Motorcycle Into This State; To Provide That The Person Shall Pay The Fee To The Tax Collector At The Time Of Registering The Motorcycle And Applying For A License Tag; To Provide That The Proceeds Of The Fee Shall Be Deposited Into The Mississippi Trauma Care Systems Fund; To Levy A Fee On Any Resident Of This State Who Purchases A New All-terrain Vehicle In Another State And Brings The Vehicle Into This State; To Provide That The Proceeds Of The Fee Shall Be Deposited Into The Mississippi Trauma Care Systems Fund; To Reenact Section 99-19-73, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Provides For Standard State Monetary Assessments For Certain Violations, Misdemeanors And Felonies; To Amend Section 9, Chapter 549, Laws Of 2008, To Extend The Date Of The Repealer On Those Reenacted Sections; And For Related Purposes.
