Summary

An Act To Amend Section 25-11-127, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That From And After July 1, 2011, No Person Who Is Being Paid A Retirement Allowance Or Pension Under The Public Employees' Retirement System May Be Employed By The State Until The Retired Person Has Been Retired For Not Less Than 90 Consecutive Days; To Require, From And After July 1, 2011, The Employer Of Any Retired Member Of The Public Employees' Retirement System Who Is Working After Retirement To Pay The Full Amount Of The Employer's Contributions On The Amount Of Compensation Received By The Retiree For His Or Her Employment; To Provide That A Member Of The System May Retire And Continue In Municipal Or County Elective Office Provided That The Member Will Not Violate The In-service Distribution Prohibition Of The Internal Revenue Service; To Provide That The Municipality Or County In Which A Retired Member Of The System Is Elected To Office Or Continues In An Elective Office Shall Pay The Amount Of The Employer's Contributions On The Full Amount Of The Regular Compensation For The Elective Office That The Retired Person Holds; And For Related Purposes.
