A RESOLUTION COMMENDING TOBY TROWBRIDGE, JR., UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AND HONORING HIS MERITORIOUS SERVICE AS SHERIFF OF MADISON COUNTY.
WHEREAS, Toby Trowbridge, Jr., plans to retire after completing his current term as Sheriff of Madison County, concluding 12 years of meritorious service in that position; and
WHEREAS, having honorably served the people of Madison County, Mr. Trowbridge was elected sheriff in 2000, in 2004 he was unopposed and reelected, and in 2008 he was overwhelmingly elected to another term; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Trowbridge has done an outstanding job in his tenure during which he has expanded the department by adding additional road deputies, narcotic agents and investigators; and
WHEREAS, in addition to increasing the size of the department, Mr. Trowbridge added a highly trained and successful S.W.A.T. unit, D.U.I. unit and I.C.E. unit, and he was able to expand the Madison County Detention Center to house up to 500 inmates; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Trowbridge has been aggressively enforcing the law and ensuring that criminals received the maximum punishment under the law, and he has worked diligently with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of Madison County citizens, which has always been his first and foremost concern; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Trowbridge worked closely with the Madison County Board of Supervisors, enabling a harmonious relationship; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend such a courageous public servant as Sheriff Toby Trowbridge, Jr., who has brought great pride to his community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Toby Trowbridge, Jr., upon the occasion of his retirement and honor his meritorious service as Sheriff of Madison County, and express sincere wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Toby Trowbridge, Jr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
