A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. SUZANNE BYRD POYNOR UPON BEING SELECTED AS THE STATE PRESIDENT OF THE GENERAL FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S CLUBS-MISSISSIPPI FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S CLUBS, INC., FOR 2012-2014.

WHEREAS, the General Federation of Women's Clubs-Mississippi Federation of Women's Clubs, Inc., (GFWC-MFWC) has selected Mrs. Suzanne Byrd Poynor as the state president for the 2012 to 2014 term; and

WHEREAS, organized in 1898, the clubs address the diverse needs of their communities, recognize women's past achievements, promote literacy for children and adults and encourage good health practices; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the organization locally and nationally is personal enrichment leading to volunteer service that benefits the community, state, nation and world; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Poynor has paid her dues with 26 years of volunteer service by wearing many hats, such as a member of the executive board for 11 years, as recording secretary, vice president, and president-elect; and

WHEREAS, she has been supported throughout these endeavors by her husband, Larry, sharing a loving union for 35 years, and with whom she has one son, Will; and

WHEREAS, a resident of Florence for 32 years, and Rankin County for 35 years, she worked tirelessly as a teacher in the Rankin County Schools until she retired; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend accomplishments of Mississippians such as Mrs. Poynor who dedicate many hours to improve the lives of our citizens and their community:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Suzanne Byrd Poynor upon being selected as the State President of the General Federation of Women's Clubs-Mississippi Federation of Women's Clubs, Inc., for 2012-2014.

BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Suzanne Byrd Poynor and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
