AN ACT TO REQUIRE A COMMERCIAL MOBILE RADIO SERVICE PROVIDER DOING BUSINESS IN THIS STATE TO AUTOMATICALLY COMPENSATE ITS CUSTOMER FOR ANY LOSS OF SERVICE WITH CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  A commercial mobile radio service provider doing business in this state shall automatically compensate its customer for any loss of service based upon the amount charged daily to the customer for the service and the number of days the service was affected, unless the loss of service was caused by an act of God or other cause beyond the control of the service provider.

     (2)  The Mississippi Public Service Commission is authorized to enforce the provisions of this act in the manner provided under Section 77-1-53, Mississippi Code of 1972, and may adopt any rules and regulations necessary to effectuate the purposes of this act.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
