A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to require That principals monitor costs imposed on students for participation in extracurricular activities.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 115C‑288 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"(n)       The principal shall monitor extracurricular activities to ensure that the cost of participating in extracurricular groups, including athletic teams, does not restrict student participation by imposing an excessive financial burden on students and their parents."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law and applies beginning with the 2013‑2014 school year.
