A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds for the north carolina families accessing services through technology project.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services the sum of nine million five hundred ninety‑two thousand three hundred thirty‑two dollars ($9,592,332) for the 2011‑2012 fiscal year and the sum of nine million five hundred ninety‑two thousand three hundred thirty‑two dollars ($9,592,332) for the 2012‑2013 fiscal year to continue the development and implementation of the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST) project. The new system will enhance the way the Department of Health and Human Services and the 100 county departments of social services conduct business by improved information sharing and better integration across services.  NC FAST will increase administrative efficiencies by replacing the 19 legacy systems that collect, maintain, and process information about applicants and recipients of Medicaid and other social services.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2011.
