A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to appropriate funds to the board of governors of the university of north carolina to expand the industrial extension services provided through north carolina state university across the state.
Whereas, the Industrial Extension Service has averaged the saving or creating of 1,000 private industry jobs annually and the enabling of an average of two hundred fifty million dollars annually in increased sales, reduced costs, and more efficient operations; and
Whereas, these services have proven invaluable to the clients that it has served; and
Whereas, current funding has only allowed providing services to less than five percent of the firms across the State; Now, therefore,
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina the sum of four million dollars ($4,000,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year to be allocated to the Industrial Extension Service at North Carolina State University. These funds shall be used to support the expansion of the service bases to other universities across the State so as to leverage the greater university resources and expertise in expanding business analysis services to companies within their regions.
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2010.
