AN ACT relative to a grant of land to Dartmouth College.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill prohibits the trustees of Dartmouth college from selling a certain tract of land granted by the general court in 1807.  The bill also repeals a subsequent 1846 law authorizing the trustees of Dartmouth college to sell such tract of land.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Sixteen

 

AN ACT relative to a grant of land to Dartmouth College.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Prohibiting the Sale of Certain Land Granted by the General Court to Dartmouth College.  Dartmouth college, the trustees of Dartmouth college, and any agent or entity authorized by, or acting on behalf of, Dartmouth college or the trustees of Dartmouth college, shall not sell, alienate, convey, or transfer, in whole or in part, the tract of land known as Dartmouth College Grant or Second College Grant that was granted to Dartmouth college by the general court pursuant to chapter 54 of the 1807 Laws of New Hampshire, entitled "An act granting a certain quantity of land to Dartmouth college," without the prior approval of the general court and the governor and council.  

2  Repeal.   "An act authorizing the trustees of Dartmouth college to convey certain lands" approved July 10, 1846 in the Laws of New Hampshire 1846, is repealed.  

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
