SYNOPSIS

     Prohibits sale of lottery tickets or shares after claim of top prizes.

An Act concerning the sale of lottery tickets or shares and supplementing P.L.1970, c.13 (C.5:9-1 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The commission shall notify agents when the top prize or prizes for a lottery game have been claimed, and any unsold tickets or shares from that lottery game shall be returned to the commission.  No agent shall sell a lottery ticket or share for a lottery game after the agent has been notified that the top prize or prizes for that lottery game have been claimed.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires the State Lottery Commission to notify agents that sell lottery tickets when the top prize or prizes for a lottery game have been claimed.  Any unsold tickets for that game would not be permitted to be sold, but instead would be returned to the State Lottery Commission.
