       AN ACT to amend the judiciary law, in relation to the law  licensure  of
         noncitizens
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The judiciary law is amended by adding a new  section  90-a
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S 90-A. LICENSURE. 1. UPON PASSING THE BAR EXAMINATION, A PERSON SHALL
    4  BE  ELIGIBLE  TO  OBTAIN  A  LAW LICENSE, REGARDLESS OF HIS OR HER IMMI-
    5  GRATION STATUS, AS LONG AS HE OR SHE IS AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UNITED
    6  STATES. SUCH ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS  SHALL  INCLUDE  THOSE  WITH  DEFERRED
    7  ACTION CITIZENSHIP STATUS.
    8    2.  NOTHING  IN THIS SECTION SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO IMPEDE, INFRINGE OR
    9  DIMINISH FEDERAL OR STATE LAWS RELATING TO LABOR AND/OR EMPLOYMENT.
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
