STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9607 IN ASSEMBLY March 26, 2022 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. HEASTIE -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Governmental Operations AN ACT extending the time within which certain elected and appointed officers may take or file their oaths of office or official under- takings The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any law, rule, or regulation to the contra- 2 ry, any duly elected or appointed officer or officers within any city in 3 the state of New York as of January 1, 2022 through March 31, 2022, who 4 failed to take or file their oath of office or official undertaking 5 within the statutory prescribed period shall be permitted to continue to 6 serve in such capacity for the duration of their term upon the taking 7 and filing of their required oath of office or official undertaking 8 consistent with sections 10 and 11 of the public officers law within 30 9 days of the effective date of this act. Such elected and appointed offi- 10 cers who take and file their oath of office or official undertaking 11 shall be deemed to have been continuously serving in office as of Janu- 12 ary 1, 2022 or the date prescribed by their election through March 31, 13 2022. 14 § 2.
