STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10198 IN ASSEMBLY March 22, 2018 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. PELLEGRINO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT directing the department of transportation to study the weight limitations for fire vehicles with pneumatic tires The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The department of transportation shall conduct a study 2 within three months of the effective date of this act, to evaluate 3 weight limitations for fire vehicles with pneumatic tires as set forth 4 in subdivision 17-b of section 385 of the vehicle and traffic law, to 5 determine whether such weight limitations should be increased to permit 6 use on the state's highways and roads. 7 § 2. No later than one year after the effective date of this act, the 8 department of transportation shall submit to the governor and the legis- 9 lature a report on the weight limitations of fire vehicles operating on 10 the state's highways and roads, as described in section one of this act. 11 § 3. The department shall evaluate such data with the assistance of 12 experts in: 13 a. highway and road weight limitations; 14 b. fire vehicles; and 15 c. traffic safety. 16 § 4.
