Senate Resolution No. 1758

        HONORING  Sam  Chiappone  upon the occasion of his
        designation for special recognition by the CYO  Troy
        Youth Association, Inc. on June 6, 2019

  WHEREAS,  Individuals  who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

  WHEREAS, Sam Chiappone has given not only of his time  and  energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to  honor  Sam
Chiappone upon the occasion of his designation for  special  recognition
by  the  CYO  Troy  Youth Association, Inc. to be celebrated at its 15th
Annual William J. Pascarell Person of the Year Event on  Thursday,  June
6, 2019, at the Italian Community Center, Troy, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  Sam  Chiappone has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and  has  always
given of himself unstintingly; and

  WHEREAS,  As  Co-Facilitator  of  the  Little  Italy Quality of Life
Committee, Sam Chiappone leads the group on developing  a  strategy  for
the revitalization of the Little Italy Neighborhood; and

  WHEREAS,   With   a  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment  to  his
community, Sam Chiappone is an active member of the ICC  and  CRAB  Club
Veterans  Post  No.  1954;  he also organized the 11th Ward World War II
Veterans Memorial Committee which maintains three sites in South Central
Troy, and has worked with Capital Roots in  organizing  and  maintaining
the Ida Street Community Garden; and

  WHEREAS, Furthermore, this summer Sam Chiappone will be starting his
40th  year of service at RPI as the Director of Manufacturing Innovation
for the School of Engineering; and

  WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his  community  service,  a
period  of constructive involvement, Sam Chiappone has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

  WHEREAS, Rare indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown  by  an
individual  for  the benefit of others which Sam Chiappone has displayed
throughout his life; and

  WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this  Legislative  Body
to  honor  and  support  those  individuals  who  have  displayed  their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the  intent
of  this  Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Sam Chiappone, that future  generations  may  know  and  appreciate  his
admirable  character,  his  many  benevolent  deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Sam  Chiappone  upon  the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the CYO Troy Youth Association, Inc. on June 6, 2019; and
be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sam Chiappone.
