Assembly Resolution No. 76 BY: M. of A. Pichardo MOURNING the death of Ramon Anibal Ramos, radio and television personality, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Ramon Anibal Ramos died on Tuesday, February 23, 20201, at the age of 76; and WHEREAS, Ramon Anibal Ramos was born in Ingenio Angelina, San Pedro de Macoris, in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, on January 19, 1945; and WHEREAS, He worked in the communications field for the past 50 years in the Dominican Republic and New York; and WHEREAS, In 1958, Ramon Anibal Ramos began his illustrious career for the radio station "La Voz del Tropico"; and WHEREAS, His officialization as an announcer took place in 1963 when he passed the corresponding exams and was issued with card No. 583; and WHEREAS, Later, Ramon Anibal Ramos worked at "Radio Radio", "Onda Musical", "Radio Reloj", "Radio Union", "RPQ", "Radio Tricolor", "Radio Cristal" and "HIJB" in Santo Domingo; and WHEREAS, The revolt of April 1965 made Ramon Anibal Ramos return to his native San Pedro de Macoris, where, until 1969, he made history on local radio working on both "HI1J", later called "Radio Oriente" and "La Voz del Caribe"; and WHEREAS, In 1973, Ramon Anibal Ramos went to work at "Radio Clarin" for the popular program "Entre Carrera y Carrera"; and WHEREAS, Ramon Anibal Ramos came to New York in 1982 through the program "Fiesta on Tele Antillas", of which he was an entertainer on Channel 47 in the United States; and WHEREAS, Since 1992, Ramon Anibal Ramos produced and hosted a television program called "El Show de Ramon Anibal Ramos", which specialized in dealing with issues of the Dominican community; specifically, he promoted the activities of the Dominican community to bring positive cultural awareness to New York City and conducted interviews and reports with many people; and WHEREAS, Ramon Anibal Ramos' show was broadcasted on Saturdays since 1992 at 11:00 pm on channel 79 in Upper Manhattan, on Sundays at 8:00 am on Dominican Television for several states of the American Union, the Caribbean islands; and WHEREAS, Ramon Anibal Ramos distinguished himself in his profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of his community; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Ramon Anibal Ramos leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Ramon Anibal Ramos, radio and television personality, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Ramon Anibal Ramos.
