AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to custom
plates for veterans
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new
2 section 404-x to read as follows:
3 S 404-X. CUSTOM PLATES FOR VETERANS, WAIVER OF FEE. NOTWITHSTANDING
4 ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, THE THIRTY-EIGHT DOLLAR AND
5 SEVENTY-FIVE CENTS FEE FOR CUSTOM PLATES IS HEREBY WAIVED IN THE CASE OF
6 AN APPLICATION THEREFOR BY ANY VETERAN OF SERVICE IN THE ARMED FORCES OF
7 THE UNITED STATES. THIS WAIVER APPLIES ONLY TO THE FEE FOR THE CUSTOM
8 PLATE AND DOES NOT APPLY TO THE VETERAN CUSTOM PLATE WITH VANITY LETTER-
9 ING.
10 S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of May next succeeding
11 the date on which it shall have become a law.
