        Introduced  by  Sen.  COMRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism,
          Parks and Recreation

        AN ACT in relation to requiring the  office  of  parks,  recreation  and
          historic  preservation  to  review  the  policies of the department of
          parks and recreation of the city of New York regarding trees and  tree
          maintenance

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any other rule, regulation or policy to the
     2  contrary, the office of  parks,  recreation  and  historic  preservation
     3  shall review and provide oversight to the department of parks and recre-
     4  ation  of  the  city  of  New York in relation to city-owned trees, tree
     5  maintenance, care and cultivation of such trees, liability  in  case  of
     6  personal  or  property  injury  by such trees, and any other matters the
     7  office of parks, recreation and historic preservation deems necessary.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
