        Introduced by Sens. HELMING, GALLIVAN -- read twice and ordered printed,
          and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Aging

        AN  ACT to amend the elder law, in relation to the powers of the commis-
          sioner of health in administering the elderly pharmaceutical insurance
          coverage program

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1. Subdivision 4 of section 244 of the elder law, as added by
     2  section 3-h of part A of chapter 59 of the laws of 2011, is  amended  to
     3  read as follows:
     4    4. implementing alternative program improvements for the efficient and
     5  effective  operation of the program in accordance with the provisions of
     6  this title, which shall include, but not be limited to,  the  establish-
     7  ment  and  maintenance  of  an electronic online system for registration
     8  into the program. The existence of the electronic online system  author-
     9  ized  by  this  section  shall  not  require  applicants to utilize such
    10  system;
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
