STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7951--A IN SENATE March 4, 2020 ___________ Introduced by Sen. GOUNARDES -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the penalty imposed upon architects relating to illegal conversion of dwellings The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 7307-a 2 to read as follows: 3 § 7307-a. Penalty relating to work involving illegal conversion of 4 dwellings. No architect shall prepare or direct the preparation of work- 5 ing drawings, plans or specifications for any change in the structural 6 parts or existing facilities of any building, including, but not limited 7 to, the subdivision of rooms, or erection or demolition of walls, or the 8 moving of any building from one location or position to another, which 9 shall result in the illegal conversion of such dwelling in violation of 10 any state or local law, ordinance, code or rule or regulation relating 11 to real property, buildings or multiple dwellings. Upon a finding that 12 an architect has violated the provisions of this section the state board 13 for architecture shall revoke the license issued under this article. 14 § 2.
