AN ACT

Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

2

Statutes, further providing for suspension of operating

3

privilege for failure to respond to citation.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 1533(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8

§ 1533.  Suspension of operating privilege for failure to

9

respond to citation.

10

(a)  Violations within Commonwealth.--The department shall

11

suspend the operating privilege of any person who has [failed]

12

done any of the following:

13

(1)  Failed to respond to a citation or summons to appear

14

before an issuing authority or a court of competent

15

jurisdiction of this Commonwealth for:

16

(i)  any violation of this title, other than

17

parking[,]; or [who has failed]

18

(ii)  any violation of the act of March 10, 1949

(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949.

(2)  Failed to pay any fine or costs imposed by an

3

issuing authority or such courts for a violation [of this

4

title, other than parking] under paragraph (1)(i), upon being

5

duly notified by an issuing authority or a court of this

6

Commonwealth.

Section 2.  The amendment of 75 Pa.C.S. § 1533(a) shall apply

9

to failures which occur on or after the effective date of this

10

section.

Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
