AN ACT

  

1

Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania

2

Consolidated Statutes, establishing the Pennsylvania Military

3

Child-Care Assistance Program.

4

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Title 51 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

7

Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:

8

§ 7320.  Pennsylvania Military Child-Care Assistance Program.

(a)  Establishment.--The Pennsylvania Military Child-Care

10

Assistance Program is established. The program shall pay for

11

child care to families that have one or more parents who are

12

federally deployed for wartime service.

(b)  Administration.--

(1)  The department shall contract with a nonprofit

2

entity to administer the program.

3

(2)  The department shall promulgate regulations

4

necessary to administer the program.

5

(c)  Eligibility.--

6

(1)  An individual is eligible for the program if the

7

individual:

8

(i)  is a resident of this Commonwealth;

9

(ii)  is serving in the active military, reserves or

10

National Guard; and

11

(iii)  is currently deployed in an active military

12

operation or national emergency.

13

(2)  A resident who received child care prior to the

14

deployment shall be eligible only for the cost of additional

15

hours of care which resulted from the deployment.

16

(3)  A resident is ineligible for the program if the

17

resident receives child-care services from the United States

18

military.

19

(d)  Funding.--The program shall be funded by the Military

20

Family Relief Fund.

21

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
