AN ACT

Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

2

Statutes, in fees, further providing for trucks and truck

3

tractors.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 1916 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:

8

§ 1916.  Trucks and truck tractors.

(c)  Refund of registration fee.--

11

(1)  If a truck or truck tractor in Classes 9 through 25

12

is registered and the owner subsequently elects to dispose of

13

the vehicle or elects not to use the vehicle on the roadways

14

of this Commonwealth prior to the beginning of the

15

registration period, the owner shall be entitled to a full

16

refund of the annual registration fee. The owner shall submit

17

to the department the registration card along with a

18

statement indicating that the registered vehicle has been

disposed of or is not being used on the roadways of this

2

Commonwealth. The department shall retain $5 of the fee to

3

cover the costs of processing the refund.

4

(2)  If the application for refund is made after the

5

registration period begins, but six months or more remain in

6

the registration period, the department shall refund to the

7

owner of the vehicle a prorated amount equal to one-half the

8

annual registration fee.

9

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
