A RESOLUTION

Urging spending of Federal economic recovery funds on products

2

that are made and services that are performed in the United

3

States.

4

WHEREAS, The economic downturn is having a critical impact on

5

everyday Americans who are struggling to maintain or find jobs

6

in an increasingly difficult environment; and

7

WHEREAS, Those same Americans are the taxpayers that provide

8

the revenue needed to operate essential government services; and

9

WHEREAS, The Congress of the United States passed and

President Obama recently signed into law an economic recovery

2

package that will provide billions of dollars to help

3

economically devastated cities and states immediately provide

4

jobs to millions of out-of-work Americans through considerable

5

infrastructure rebuilding, green energy projects and other

6

projects that will require manufactured components; and

7

WHEREAS, Our taxpayer dollars should be spent to maximize the

8

creation of American jobs and restore the economic vitality of

9

our communities; and

10

WHEREAS, Any domestically produced products that are

11

purchased with economic recovery plan funds will immediately

12

help struggling businesses and American families and will help

13

stabilize the greater economy; and

14

WHEREAS, Any economic recovery plan spending for products and

15

services should, to the extent possible, include a commitment

16

from the Commonwealth to buy materials, goods and services that

17

are produced or performed by companies within the United States,

18

thus employing the workers that pay taxes for the economic

19

recovery plan spending; therefore be it

20

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives work to maximize

21

the creation of American jobs and restore economic growth and

22

opportunity by urging the spending of economic recovery plan

23

funds on products and services that both create jobs and help

24

keep Americans employed; and be it further

25

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge that

26

products that are made and services that are performed in the

27

United States be purchased, when possible, with economic

28

recovery funds received by the Commonwealth; and be it further

29

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives call upon State

30

agencies to promptly publish any request to waive procurement

priorities so as to give American workers and producers the

2

opportunity to identify and provide American products and

3

services to maximize the success of this nation's economic

4

recovery program.
