A RESOLUTION

  

1

Extending condolences on the death of Staff Sergeant Mark C.

2

Baum of Quakertown, Bucks County, who was killed in action on

3

February 21, 2009, in Mushada, Iraq.

4

WHEREAS, A member of the 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry

5

Regiment, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the Pennsylvania

6

Army National Guard, Staff Sergeant Mark C. Baum was serving his

7

second tour of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and

8

WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Baum was a former active duty soldier,

9

having completed tours with the army’s 10th Mountain Division in

10

Iraq, Kosovo and Sinai; and

WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Baum was serving with the Pennsylvania

2

Army National Guard since 2005; and

3

WHEREAS, A 1995 graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High

4

School, Staff Sgt. Baum worked as a corrections officer at the

5

Bucks County Correctional Facility since 2007; and

6

WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Baum is survived by his wife, Heather,

7

his daughters, Alexis and Kailey, his son, Conrad, his parents,

8

Howard and Debra Baum, and his brother, Neil; and

9

WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Baum was posthumously promoted to the

10

rank of staff sergeant and awarded the Purple Heart; and

11

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives mourns the loss of

12

Staff Sgt. Baum and honors his personal bravery, exemplary

13

citizenship and dedicated military service; therefore be it

14

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend

15

condolences on the death of Staff Sergeant Mark C. Baum of

16

Quakertown, Bucks County, who was killed in action on February

17

21, 2009, in Mushada, Iraq; and be it further

18

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

19

Mrs. Heather Baum, 38 South 3rd Street, Quakertown, PA 18951.
