| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Honoring the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators |
2 | on its 65th anniversary. |
3 | WHEREAS, In 1947, Howard Fox became the first president of |
4 | the Pennsylvania Vocational Agriculture Teachers' Association; |
5 | and |
6 | WHEREAS, In 1949, the Commonwealth included provisions for |
7 | the public schools to officially provide classes for vocational |
8 | agriculture students and to receive Federal and State funding |
9 | for their efforts; and |
10 | WHEREAS, In 1997, the National Vocational Agriculture |
11 | Teachers Association decided to change its name to the National |
12 | Association of Agricultural Educators; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In this Commonwealth, this organization is known as |
14 | the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In the 2011-2012 legislative sessions, the |
16 | Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators succeeded in |

1 | an effort to have the 1949 definition of education in |
2 | agriculture modernized to represent the many changes in |
3 | agricultural, food, fiber and natural resources since; and |
4 | WHEREAS, The national and state agricultural educators |
5 | associations strive to advance agricultural education, promote |
6 | professional interests and growth of agriculture teachers and |
7 | develop professional pride; therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Senate honor and celebrate the 65th |
9 | anniversary of the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural |
10 | Educators. |
