A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators
on its 65th anniversary.
WHEREAS, In 1947, Howard Fox became the first president of
the Pennsylvania Vocational Agriculture Teachers' Association;
and
WHEREAS, In 1949, the Commonwealth included provisions for
the public schools to officially provide classes for vocational
agriculture students and to receive Federal and State funding
for their efforts; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, the National Vocational Agriculture
Teachers Association decided to change its name to the National
Association of Agricultural Educators; and
WHEREAS, In this Commonwealth, this organization is known as
the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators; and
WHEREAS, In the 2011-2012 legislative sessions, the
Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators succeeded in

an effort to have the 1949 definition of education in
agriculture modernized to represent the many changes in
agricultural, food, fiber and natural resources since; and
WHEREAS, The national and state agricultural educators
associations strive to advance agricultural education, promote
professional interests and growth of agriculture teachers and
develop professional pride; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate honor and celebrate the 65th
anniversary of the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural
Educators.
