force. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 362.002(b), Local Government Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(b) A county, municipality, or joint airport may, by | ||
resolution or order of its governing body, enter into an agreement | ||
with a [ |

county to form a mutual aid law enforcement task force to cooperate | ||
in criminal investigations and law enforcement. Peace officers | ||
employed by counties, municipalities, or joint airports covered by | ||
the agreement have only the additional investigative authority | ||
throughout the region as set forth in the agreement. The agreement | ||
must provide for the compensation of peace officers involved in the | ||
activities of the task force. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
