A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the enforcement by the attorney general of rules
  adopted by the Railroad Commission of Texas requiring gas supply
  chain facility operators to implement measures to prepare to
  operate during a weather emergency.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 86.044(h), Natural Resources Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (h)  If the commission determines that a person has violated
  a rule adopted under this section, the commission shall notify the
  attorney general of a violation that is not remedied in a reasonable
  amount of time.  The attorney general may [shall] initiate a suit
  to recover a penalty for the violation in the manner provided by
  Subchapter G.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
