WHEREAS, Band of the Hills is celebrating its 25th | ||
anniversary on May 21, 2023, with a concert at Vista Ridge High | ||
School Performing Arts Center in Cedar Park; and | ||
WHEREAS, Formed in 1998 with a core group of 18 musicians, | ||
Band of the Hills is an ensemble of wind and percussion players from | ||
Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, Pflugerville, and the surrounding | ||
area; the band is a non-audition, volunteer organization for those | ||
who enjoy performing music for residents of Williamson County and | ||
other Central Texas communities; its concerts are free to the | ||
public; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the years, the ensemble has grown to more than | ||
100 members, including retirees, students, business owners, and | ||
people who work in a wide range of professions, from education to | ||
the corporate world; since its inception, the band has been | ||
directed by Bob Dalrymple, a retired music educator whose students | ||
won numerous competitions during his long career, which included | ||
two decades with the Round Rock Independent School District; and | ||
WHEREAS, Band of the Hills entertains crowds in a variety of | ||
settings, including holiday celebrations and festivals as well as | ||
formal concerts; its repertoire has a wide appeal, with a mix of | ||
seasonal favorites and such traditional styles as big band, show | ||
tunes, marches, and classical music; a member of the national | ||
Association of Concert Bands, the group also belongs to the Cedar | ||
Park and Leander Chambers of Commerce; and | ||
WHEREAS, For a quarter century, Band of the Hills has | ||
enriched the cultural life of Williamson County by providing a | ||
creative outlet for its members and allowing them to share the joy | ||
of live music with their fellow residents; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Band of the Hills on its 25th | ||
anniversary and extend to all those associated with the ensemble | ||
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. |
