| WHEREAS, Lauren Penney of Jasper has demonstrated excellence | ||
| in the sport of gymnastics, and she will soon be competing at the | ||
| Junior Olympics being held in Fort Worth in July 2015; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Carlton and Beth | ||
| Penney, Lauren Penney qualified for the prestigious event through | ||
| her impressive performance at the 2015 USA Gymnastics Trampoline | ||
| and Tumbling state championships in Lafayette, Louisiana; there, | ||
| she captured titles in the power tumbling and the double | ||
| mini-trampoline events and was awarded the silver medal for | ||
| trampoline; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Training and competing in gymnastics since the age | ||
| of five, Lauren has greatly benefited from the guidance of her | ||
| coaches, Neil and Ramonda Vinsant and Gabbi Smith; in addition, she | ||
| is a straight-A student at Parnell Elementary School; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has shown the | ||
| determination and perseverance that are the hallmarks of successful | ||
| athletes at every level of competition, and she is a source of pride | ||
| for her family, her friends, and her coaches; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Lauren Penney on her wins at the | ||
| 2015 USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling state championships and | ||
| on qualifying for the Junior Olympics and extend to her sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Lauren as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
