WHEREAS, Members of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Odessa are | ||
gathering on February 13, 2011, to celebrate the installation of | ||
their new pastor, Ray D. Hicks; and | ||
WHEREAS, Since assuming the pulpit in October 2010, Pastor | ||
Hicks has brought energy and enthusiasm to his new post and has | ||
helped to foster the growth of church membership; he moved to West | ||
Texas from Austin, where he served at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist | ||
Church; and | ||
WHEREAS, Bethlehem Baptist Church was founded in 1959 by the | ||
Reverend R. S. Sutton; the congregation benefited from Reverend | ||
Sutton's able leadership for more than half a century, and the | ||
tradition of dedicated service that he established continues today | ||
under the direction of Pastor Hicks; and | ||
WHEREAS, The installation of Pastor Hicks marks the beginning | ||
of a momentous new chapter in the life of this notable house of | ||
worship, and members of the congregation may indeed look forward to | ||
many years of worship and fellowship under his guidance; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Ray D. Hicks on his installation as | ||
pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Odessa and extend to him | ||
sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Pastor Hicks as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
