R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Cisco High School football team capped an
  undefeated season by winning the 2013 University Interscholastic
  League 2A Division 2 state championship on December 19, 2013, at
  AT&T Stadium in Arlington; and
         WHEREAS, With this outstanding victory, the Loboes claimed
  their first state championship and completed a memorable season in
  which they compiled a perfect 16-0 record; Cisco combined an
  explosive offensive attack with a punishing defense to triumph in
  each of its regular season games and win the District 4-2A crown;
  the team continued its fine play in the postseason, dominating its
  first four opponents and clinching a berth in the 2A Division 2
  finale with a comfortable 55-6 victory over Leonard High School in
  the semifinals; and
         WHEREAS, The Loboes faced off against a familiar foe in the
  state championship game, taking on the same Refugio High School
  squad that defeated Cisco in the 2011 title matchup; determined to
  not let history repeat itself, Cisco jumped out to a lead in the
  first quarter and headed into halftime ahead by one touchdown; the
  Loboes then tallied 28 points in a decisive third quarter, with
  quarterback Colton Kent taking part in three of the touchdowns, two
  resulting from long pass plays and one coming on a 63-yard run; when
  the final seconds ticked off the clock in the fourth quarter, the
  Loboes claimed a 56-36 victory and the state championship; Mr. Kent
  was named the game's Offensive Most Valuable Player for his
  efforts, and teammate Mason Reed earned the Defensive MVP honor for
  his performance on the other side of the ball; and
         WHEREAS, Ably led by head coach Brent West, the Loboes
  received essential contributions throughout the year from each
  member of the roster as they reached the pinnacle of success on the
  gridiron; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the culmination of
  countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to
  excellence, and these talented student-athletes and their
  supporters will treasure the memory of this outstanding
  accomplishment for many years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Cisco High School football team
  on winning the 2013 UIL 2A Division 2 state championship and extend
  to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
