A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the renewal of local disaster declarations.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 418.108(b), Government Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         (b)  A declaration of local disaster: 
               (1)  may not be continued or renewed for a period of
  more than seven days except with the consent of the governing body
  of the political subdivision in a public meeting or the chief
  administrative officer of a joint board as provided by Subsection
  (e), as applicable.
               (2)  Thereafter, a declaration of local disaster may
  not continue for more than 30 days unless renewed by the governing
  body of the political subdivision in a public meeting or the chief
  administrative officer or a joint board as provided by Subsection
  (e), as applicable. 
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
