BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 51.971(a)(1), Education Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(1) "Compliance program" means a process to assess and | ||
ensure compliance by the officers, [ |
||
contractors, subcontractors, or other persons acting on behalf of | ||
an institution of higher education with applicable laws, rules, | ||
regulations, and policies, including matters of: | ||
(A) ethics and standards of conduct; | ||
(B) financial reporting; | ||
(C) internal accounting controls; or | ||
(D) auditing. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
