SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 36
         WHEREAS, Charles Swearengen is concluding his longtime
  service on the Hurst City Council in 2013, and this occasion
  provides a welcome opportunity to recognize him for his many
  contributions in behalf of his fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Swearengen has been the Place 1 council member
  for the past 30 years, providing valuable leadership on crucial
  issues and helping to address the needs of city residents; he has
  further contributed to the community as chair of the City of
  Hurst Finance and Investment Committee and as director of the
  city's Community Services Development Corporation; moreover, he
  has served as a member of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of
  Commerce board and as Hurst's representative on the North Central
  Texas Council of Governments and has participated in numerous
  other organizations addressing crime, regional infrastructure,
  and other subjects; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth and a graduate of Texas
  Christian University, Mr. Swearengen worked for Lockheed Martin
  for 38 years before retiring and has resided in Hurst for 53
  years; he has attended First United Methodist Church of Hurst
  since 1959 and is also active in Hurst Lodge 1387 Ancient Free and
  Accepted Masons; blessed with a fine family, he enjoys the love
  and support of his wife, Gwendolyn, his daughter Charlene
  Fitzgerald and her husband, Charles, his daughter Rachel Cox and
  her husband, Jon, and his grandchildren, John and David
  Fitzgerald and Elizabeth and Jon Cox; and
         WHEREAS, Charles Swearengen's dedication, insight, and
  commitment to public service have greatly benefited the people of
  Hurst, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his outstanding
  tenure on the city council; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Honorable
  Charles Swearengen on his achievements as a member of the Hurst
  City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Mr. Swearengen as an expression of high regard from the Texas
  Senate.
