WHEREAS, Charles Swearengen is concluding his longtime | ||
service on the Hurst City Council in 2013, and this occasion | ||
provides a welcome opportunity to recognize him for his many | ||
contributions in behalf of his fellow citizens; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Swearengen has been the Place 1 council member | ||
for the past 30 years, providing valuable leadership on crucial | ||
issues and helping to address the needs of city residents; he has | ||
further contributed to the community as chair of the City of | ||
Hurst Finance and Investment Committee and as director of the | ||
city's Community Services Development Corporation; moreover, he | ||
has served as a member of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of | ||
Commerce board and as Hurst's representative on the North Central | ||
Texas Council of Governments and has participated in numerous | ||
other organizations addressing crime, regional infrastructure, | ||
and other subjects; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth and a graduate of Texas | ||
Christian University, Mr. Swearengen worked for Lockheed Martin | ||
for 38 years before retiring and has resided in Hurst for 53 | ||
years; he has attended First United Methodist Church of Hurst | ||
since 1959 and is also active in Hurst Lodge 1387 Ancient Free and | ||
Accepted Masons; blessed with a fine family, he enjoys the love | ||
and support of his wife, Gwendolyn, his daughter Charlene | ||
Fitzgerald and her husband, Charles, his daughter Rachel Cox and | ||
her husband, Jon, and his grandchildren, John and David | ||
Fitzgerald and Elizabeth and Jon Cox; and | ||
WHEREAS, Charles Swearengen's dedication, insight, and | ||
commitment to public service have greatly benefited the people of | ||
Hurst, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his outstanding | ||
tenure on the city council; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Honorable | ||
Charles Swearengen on his achievements as a member of the Hurst | ||
City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued | ||
happiness; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
Mr. Swearengen as an expression of high regard from the Texas | ||
Senate. | ||
