| John Geoffrey Warburton | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of John Geoffrey | ||
| Warburton, who died December 28, 2012, at the age of 65; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Geoff Warburton was born in Harlingen and grew up | ||
| in Brownsville; he earned a bachelor's degree in government at | ||
| The University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in | ||
| history at The University of Texas--Pan American; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He worked for a time as a teacher in Bryan and | ||
| Brownsville before earning a law degree from the University of | ||
| Houston and entering into a fulfilling 25-year career in the | ||
| practice of law, during which he served the people of Brownsville | ||
| as city attorney for 14 years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Warburton was active in his community as a | ||
| member of the Brownsville Rotary Club and as a member of the | ||
| Church of the Advent Episcopal; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | ||
| gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued | ||
| counsel will not be forgotten; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Geoff Warburton was beloved by many, and he leaves | ||
| behind memories that will be treasured forever by all those who | ||
| were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
| condolences to the bereaved family of John Geoffrey Warburton; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Geoff Warburton. | ||
