AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the House Committee on Education
on February 3, 2016)

A BILL to require the Board of Education to consider certain alternative assessments for students who are English language learners.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. The Board of Education shall consider assessments aligned to the Standards of Learning that are structured and formatted in a way that measures the content knowledge of students who are English language learners and that may be administered to such students as Board of Education-approved alternatives to Standards of Learning end-of-course English reading assessments.
