HOUSE BILL NO. 726
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the House Committee on Counties, Cities and Towns
on January 27, 2012)

A BILL to allow the City of Newport News to sell certain property for a nominal amount.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  §1. The City of Newport News may by ordinance provide for the sale of property that is not suitable for development for the nominal amount of one dollar if such property (i) was owned by the city on January 1, 2012, and (ii) is a parcel of 1,500 square feet or less.

2.  That the provisions of this act shall expire on July 1, 2014.
