HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 201
Celebrating the life of Danny Ross Lowe.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 4, 2024
 

WHEREAS, Danny Ross Lowe, a hardworking and dedicated coal miner and corrections officer and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and member of the Vansant community, died on July 9, 2023; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Grundy High School in 1971, Danny Lowe earned a degree from Southwest Virginia Community College; and

WHEREAS, Danny Lowe worked tirelessly for several years as a coal miner, supporting the energy needs of the Commonwealth and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Danny Lowe served as a corrections officer at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail, contributing to the safety and well-being of the inmates and his fellow officers; and

WHEREAS, Danny Lowe was chair of the Buchanan County Republican Party and also supported his community as a member of Southwest Virginia Community College board, the Buchanan County Beekeepers Association, and the Buchanan County Historical Society of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, an avid sports fan and reader, Danny Lowe was happiest of all when spending quality time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Kailee; and

WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Danny Lowe enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Little Prater Church of Christ in Grundy, where he served as deacon; and

WHEREAS, Danny Lowe will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife, Peggy; his daughter, Brittney, and her family; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Danny Ross Lowe, a cherished member of the Vansant community whose dedicated service made an impact on countless lives; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Danny Ross Lowe as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
