HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 291
Commending Eternal Life Church.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 26, 2015

WHEREAS, Eternal Life Church in Franklin celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2015; the nondenominational church, which was founded by the Reverend Alvin Blow, is proud of its spiritual growth during the last decade and its increase in members; and

WHEREAS, Eternal Life Church came into being after the Reverend Alvin Blow had a vision to start a nondenominational church; soon after, a charter for the church was drafted and a name for the new congregation was chosen; and

WHEREAS, the Reverend Alvin Blow has been a church-going person all his life, but he never envisioned becoming a pastor; previously, he had felt a calling to the ministry, but was reluctant, feeling that the responsibility would be too great; and

WHEREAS, before becoming a pastor, the Reverend Alvin Blow was an assistant football coach at Southampton High School; he realized in 2002 that he was called to preach after a short conversation with a student in his office one day, a person he never saw again; and

WHEREAS, the Reverend Alvin Blow attended seminary in Norfolk and was ordained in 2004; the ministry that would come to be known as Eternal Life Church also was taking root, having met for the first time at a hotel in Franklin with about 10 members; and

WHEREAS, in 2010, Eternal Life Church, under the Reverend Alvin Blow's guidance and leadership, moved into a building on Barrett Street in downtown Franklin that the congregation repurposed; the current membership is about 100 people; and

WHEREAS, the Reverend Alvin Blow is proud of the church's growth in the last decade and is thankful for the spiritual growth shown by the members of Eternal Life Church; he has great appreciation for their devotion and their generous hearts; and

WHEREAS, Eternal Life Church is looking to the future; the congregation has purchased land on U.S. Route 58 and hopes to expand soon; the Reverend Alvin Blow anticipates many big and positive changes for the church he founded 10 years ago; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Eternal Life Church in Franklin hereby be commended on the occasion of its 10th anniversary in 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Reverend Alvin Blow, pastor of Eternal Life Church, as an expression of the House of Delegates' congratulations and admiration for the ministry and work of the church he founded and best wishes for a future of promise and fulfillment.
