SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 104
Commending Bishop B. Courtney McBath.

WHEREAS, Bishop B. Courtney McBath, a visionary spiritual leader and philanthropist, has touched countless lives throughout Hampton Roads through his generosity and commitment to service; and

WHEREAS, Courtney McBath is a passionate lifelong learner and holds degrees from Regent University and Providence Bible College and Theological Seminary; he recently also completed a post-graduate program in organizational leadership through Oxford University; and

WHEREAS, in 1990, Courtney McBath founded Calvary Revival Church, which has become one of the largest and fastest-growing churches in the country, with more than 7,000 congregants across multiple locations; and

WHEREAS, Courtney McBath and Calvary Revival Church have reached tens of thousands of viewers through Voice of Revival, a television ministry that airs on a local Fox affiliate station as well as online; and

WHEREAS, Courtney McBath has created several church-supported entities addressing business, educational, and cultural needs, including a kindergarten through 12th grade school system and a federal credit union; and

WHEREAS, Courtney McBath has provided his insights and expertise to other churches throughout the Commonwealth, the United States, and abroad, demonstrating how active ministry can create positive change in the wider community; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to the residents of Hampton Roads, Courtney McBath established the nonprofit organization Revive Community, which has helped people in need lead healthy, full, and enriched lives; and

WHEREAS, under Courtney McBath's leadership, Revive Community has developed a food pantry that feeds more than 700 families per week, an educational program that has provided free financial literacy tools to more than 200 individuals and families, a scholarship program, and an annual festival called Summer Homies that provides free resources to people in at-risk communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Bishop B. Courtney McBath on the occasion of his retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bishop B. Courtney McBath as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his outstanding accomplishments over the course of his career.
