Summary

As introduced, Bill 25-309 would designate the Department of Corrections as the District agency responsible for the provision of a free appropriate education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Services would be provided to individuals with disabilities who are in its custody and detained in its secure facilities from the age of 18 through the end of the individual’s eligibility.
