A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Chapter 1 of Title 33 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to insurance generally, so as to provide for limitations on licensure requirements for certain health care providers; to prohibit the conditioning of certain licensing for health care providers on the participation in health insurance plans and other activities; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Chapter 1 of Title 33 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to insurance generally, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:
"33-1-22.
(a) State licensure requirements for physicians and dentists in this state shall be granted based on demonstrated skill and academic competence. Licensure approval for physicians and dentists in this state shall not be conditioned upon or related to participation in any public or private health insurance plan, public health care system, public service initiative, or emergency room coverage.
(b) The Georgia Composite Medical Board and the Georgia Board of Dentistry shall be solely responsible for the licensure of physicians and dentists, respectively, in this state."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
